Intelligent Communications and Networking Systems

Dear Colleagues,

Intelligent Communications and networks are advancing and improving rapidly, underpinned by new artificial intelligence (AI) and learning algorithms, coupled with flexible adaptive communications techniques and virtualised networking technologies. New services are able to be deployed over the flexible network, with distributed edge computing capabilities supporting low latency applications not previously possible. These networks have the potential to underpin the future connected world, including machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, the Internet of things (IoT), remote automation, and wide area distributed environmental sensing. The intelligence is provided at multiple layers of the protocol stack, including network nodes on the service layer, switches in the core network, and lower layer communications equipment. Together, this provides greater levels of network optimisation, improved energy efficiencies, lower latencies, and a greater range of data link offerings. There is potential for the intelligent network to be more modular and secure, while allowing service providers to develop variations and new value-added services to their networks.

Original, high-quality contributions that have not been published before and are not currently under review by other journals or conferences are sought.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
