Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The existing COVID-19 situation has changed the world, the basic meaning of sustainability, and sustainable development work. This immense challenge must be seen as an opportunity for all scientists in all disciplines and areas of research to work together to respond to the challenge caused by human intervention into natural ecosystems. In this new Special Issue, the aim is to address three dimensions of sustainability in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary manner. The adopted perspective is that of Circular Economy (CE).

COVID-19 has radically changed the economy of the world, e.g., as of today, an approximate 25% rate of unemployment is projected in the US. COVID-19 has fundamentally transformed the social dimension of sustainability or the discussion concerning it, e.g., a massive hunger crisis in Africa is predicted as we are writing this particular call for papers (April 22, 2020). Additionally, of course .when considering the environmental dimension, radical emission reductions in many places around the world due to economic shutdown are a paradoxical fact.
