Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The ongoing deployment of electric and connected vehicles does not only cover new technologies, but is rather driving a change in mobility as a whole, particularly as the integration into superordinated systems such as the Smart Grid or Smart Cities is accompanied by a significant technical and socio-cultural impact. Concerns are, however, arising, such as these: how do electric vehicles do affect the power systems as a whole? How does connectivity between vehicles, infrastructure and people interfere with privacy concerns? New technologies such as block-chain or Artificial Intelligence will play an important role in these concepts, even if many aspects still remain unclear.

To shed light on sustainable integration of electric and connected vehicles in superordinated smart systems, the purpose of this Special Issue is to provide a forum for the exchange of newly identified research topics, approaches, and concepts from different perspectives. As such, the scope of this Special Issue covers technical aspects such as interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary engineering, System-of-Systems concerns, and socio-cultural aspects such as privacy-related concerns. Thus, not only engineering related topics are in focus but all aspects with relevance to a sustainable integration of electric and connected vehicles shall be addressed. Concepts for holistic considerations are welcome as well as investigations on particular technologies that have the potential to play a role as enabler of sustainable integration of vehicles in their surrounding context.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
