Dear Colleagues,
Using artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things methods in industrial engineering has become widespread in recent years. Based on the analysis of the characteristics and operation status of the process industry, as well as the sustainable development of the global intelligent manufacturing industry, a new mode of intelligent manufacturing for the process industry, namely, sustainable industrial artificial intelligence and deep integration of industrial artificial intelligence Internet industry and process industry sustainability, is proposed.
At present, due to the rapid development of AI, the mobile Internet, and other technologies, we are currently within the fourth industrial revolution. AI can be used to improve the operation of manufacturing processes, enhance the flexibility of manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and reduce cost, which can create more sustainable social and economic development. Sustainable AI has had significant applications in the advancement of sustainability research.
The major themes of this Special Issue focus on using artificial intelligence in industrial engineering in a sustainable way.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Artificial Intelligence in Sustainability;
- Industrial Engineering Sustainability;
- Sustainable Social and Economic Development.

Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
