Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Against the backdrop of a global imperative to address carbon footprints and minimize environmental impacts, the field of civil engineering is at the forefront of embracing sustainable practices. This Special Issue, “Sustainable Applications of Advanced Technology in Engineering Structures”, is dedicated to exploring the synergies between cutting-edge technology and sustainable engineering.

The imperative for sustainability in construction is underscored by criteria such as efficient resource utilization, minimal waste generation, the creation of environments conducive to health, and care for the environment. Recent research and technological innovations have spurred advancements in (i) novel building materials, (ii) transformative construction processes, and (iii) integrated design procedures that prioritize energy efficiency and reduced waste.

This Special Issue aims to delve into the nexus of technology and sustainability in engineering structures, emphasizing areas such as:

  1. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Building Materials: investigating materials that align with new environmental goals.
  2. Integration of Advanced Technologies in Construction Processes: exploring innovations like 3D printing for enhanced sustainability.
  3. Smart Design Strategies: emphasizing integrated design procedures for energy efficiency.
  4. Waste Reduction and Management: highlighting approaches to minimize or repurpose construction waste.
  5. Resilient Structures through Technology: showcasing advancements that can ensure structures stand the test of time.

We invite contributions from experts and enthusiasts alike to illuminate this Special Issue with diverse perspectives, shaping the discourse on sustainable applications of advanced technology in engineering structures.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
