Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Evidence suggests that biodiversity loss can affect ecosystem functions and services. Ecosystem functions are positively related with biodiversity, and hence, biodiversity and ecosystems are managed and conserved for multiple services to human wellbeing. Maintenance of ecosystem services promotes a long-term environmental sustainability, which can be achieved through assessments of the current state of knowledge regarding climate change, land use activities, biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and ecosystem services in various biomes, including terrestrial, marine, and freshwater systems. This Special Issue aims to address the role of biodiversity in ecosystem functioning and ecosystem goods and services in various forms of ecosystem, including terrestrial, marine, and freshwater systems. Both review and field-oriented scientific papers addressing the loss of biodiversity due to climate change, land use change, and other human-mediated disturbances affecting ecosystem functioning and sustainability of ecosystem services are particularly welcome.
