Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The first challenge the methods of water resources management method must address is the inherent uncertainty of annual precipitation and the various kinds of water demand. In addition, the rainfall–runoff model and other sub–models which are involved during the assessment of the water availability contain many uncertainties. The decision making involved in the problem of water resources management exploits the operation research.  Particular attention will be given to addressing the problem of the synthesis of criteria with different natures, the recorded trend of many multi-criteria methods in selecting non-balanced decisions, subjectivity in the choice of weights, etc. Since fuzzy sets and logic simulate human reasoning more closely, the fuzzy sets can be used to deal with many uncertainties and furthermore either to produce or to interpret several decision making schemes. Indeed, the existence of qualitative criteria, the selection of the weights, the conflict between the criteria, and the aggregation of criteria with different natures necessitate fuzzy sets and logic. Moreover, the new trend to incorporate the more robust way of the ecosystems increases the uncertainties. The incorporation of the extreme hydrometeorological phenomena of drought and floods as well as climate change should enhance the water resources management methodologies. The new trend is to deal with these phenomena not only from the aspect of hydraulics or probabilities but also by incorporating vulnerability and the synthesis between vulnerability and the hazard. Therefore, the multi-criteria techniques of the water recourses problem can be used in order to assess the vulnerability and finally the risk map of these phenomena

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
