MDPI Has 24 Newly Established Journals Added into Web of Science

Recently, Clarivate conducted an initial analysis of several of MDPI's newly founded journals. As a result, 24 journals, primarily established in 2020, have been newly included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) within Web of Science in November and December 2023 (see the list below for details). Additionally, five journals had successfully undergone the same analysis in the first half of the year.

Journals included in the ESCI index meet each of 24 quality criteria ensuring editorial rigor. These journals may eventually be evaluated for potential inclusion in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), or the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI). This advanced evaluation is based on four impact criteria, with inclusion contingent on the citation activity demonstrating a high impact relative to peer publications.
