Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Rhizophere-associated microorganisms play beneficial roles in the growth and development of plants. These roles include enhancing nutrient availability and the hormonal balance of the plants, hence improving the ability of plants to grow in less comfortable environments. However, specific beneficial microorganisms are not always abundant in the rhizosphere. Therefore, new technology is currently evolving to introduce plant-growth-promoting microorganisms into the plant rhizosphere as an environmentally friendly biological fertilizer (biofertilizer). This Special Issue highlights recent findings on the relationship between beneficial endophytic and exophytic microbes and plants at molecular, cellular, and biochemical levels using modern technologies, including omics approaches. Additionally, this Special Issue focuses on identifying and proposing certain microbes or microbial cocktails and describing methodologies to prepare and test biofertilizers. The editors welcome the submission of original research and review manuscripts of all types that address these topics.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
