Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Mineral resources are valuable natural assets that have formed through millions, and even billions, of years of geological processes. They serve as a crucial material foundation for the advancement of social production and the lives of individuals in modern society. In light of the pressing global challenge of climate change, there is an increasing drive towards achieving "carbon neutrality," leading to a global energy system that is progressively cleaner, low-carbon, and decarbonized. This transition to clean energy necessitates the widespread deployment of clean energy technologies, many of which rely on critical minerals such as copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt, and rare earth elements. These metals, along with others like gallium, indium, platinum, and rare earth, play a vital role in low-carbon technology products and are considered essential for supporting the growth of low-carbon industries.

The escalating demand for new energy mineral resources necessitates the development of novel geophysical exploration methods and technologies. Electromagnetic methods, including remote sensing and traditional low-frequency electromagnetic methods, have been continuously evolving and demonstrating new trends as the one of the major geophysical technique for mineral resource exploration. To comprehensively summarize the significant role of remote sensing and other electromagnetic methods in recent mineral resource exploration, we are organizing a special issue focused on the latest advancements in remote sensing methods, data processing techniques, new electromagnetic exploration methods, and their applications in key metal deposits. We invite contributions on remote sensing and other electromagnetic methods, and we encourage researchers from both academia and industry to submit their work to this special section.

Manuscripts should be uploaded to the Remote Sensing online submission system and will undergo the standard Remote Sensing review process, which includes a thorough peer review by at least two reviewers. When submitting your manuscript, please make sure to select "New Trends of Remote Sensing and Other EM Methods for Exploration of Mineral Resources in China" as the designated manuscript type.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
