Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The occurrence of pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment has become an issue of increasing concern in recent years, and many efforts have been devoted to measuring their concentrations in different water environments, namely groundwater, surface water, oceans, raw wastewater and treated effluent, and potable water. At the same time, studies were also developed for predicting their concentrations based on different approaches and for evaluating the risk for aquatic life and human health posed by their residues in water.

These topics are and will be at the center of many debates among scientists all over the world. This Special Issue wishes to stimulate discussion of these issues and invites research groups dealing with such issues to present their recent and promising results, highlighting the main challenges we will have to face in the coming years with regard to the potential upgrading of existing wastewater and water treatment plant and tools for environmental risk assessment.

Research papers, review articles, case studies presentation, and short communications dealing with the occurrence and removal efficiencies of such persistent compounds in wastewater and water and environmental risk assessment are welcome!
