Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to participate in this Special Issue and join the team of our Centre of Excellence "Mechatronics and Clean Technology", Campus Technical University, Sofia. In our work for the realization of the Centre, combining almost all areas of engineering, we focus on the creation, development and implementation of innovative technologies and systems for sustainable development, based on the use of green energy. As a result of accelerated development based on digital technologies, mechatronics and their systems are the key to combining growing energy needs and maintaining the ecological balance of the planet. The main themes of our research are computer modelling and development of technologies and new materials for engineering and reengineering; electronic, optical, sensor and bio-mechatronic systems and technologies; mechatronic systems and technologies; clean energy; and green technologies.

We hope that our combined efforts will give impetus to new ideas and collaborations between leading researchers in the field of engineering and will contribute to achieving synergies both at the level of both individual research teams and institutions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

This article presents an analysis and methodology for designing resonant inverters with energy dosing for induction heating applications. These power topologies are characterized by the fact that the power consumption of the DC power source does not depend on the magnitude and changes of the load but is a function of the operating frequency, the value of the resonant capacitor and the DC supply voltage. Based on a description of the electromagnetic processes in the power circuit, analytical dependencies have been determined that describe the behavior of the studied power electronic devices. The expressions for the current of the AC circuit in the various stages of the converter’s operation are obtained, and on this basis an engineering methodology for design and prototyping is presented. The proposed methodology is verified through two specific numerical examples, simulation and experimental studies. In this way, the possibilities of these power electronic devices for self-adaptation to the needs and changes of the load, which is very important in the implementation of induction technologies, are demonstrated. Furthermore, the creation and testing of engineering methodologies for the design of power electronic devices are very useful for improving power electronics education. Full article
