Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In an era where global food security is challenged by climate change, population growth, and unsustainable agricultural practices, understanding the fundamental mechanisms of plant nutrient uptake, interactions, and homeostasis has never been more crucial. This proposed Special Issue, titled “Uncovering the Basis of Plant Nutrient Uptake, Interactions and Homeostasis: Molecular Mechanisms and Their Applications”, aims to delve into the molecular underpinnings that govern these essential processes in plants.

Nutrient uptake and homeostasis are critical for plants’ growth, development, and productivity. They involve complex networks of molecular interactions and regulatory mechanisms that ensure optimal nutrient availability and utilization, even under fluctuating environmental conditions. This Special Issue aims to unravel these complex molecular mechanisms, offering insights into how plants perceive, acquire, transport, and balance nutrients.

Moreover, this Special Issue will explore interactions between different nutrients and how these relationships affect plant health and stress resilience. Understanding these interactions is key to developing strategies for enhancing nutrient use efficiency, which can lead to more sustainable agricultural practices and improved crop yields.

We invite contributions (original papers and reviews) from researchers working on various aspects of plant nutrient uptake, interactions, and homeostasis, including, but not limited to, molecular mechanisms of nutrient transport, signaling pathways involved in nutrient sensing and response, the role of the microbiome in nutrient availability, and the application of this knowledge in improving crop nutrition and agricultural sustainability.

Through this Special Issue, we aim to build a comprehensive understanding of plant nutrient dynamics, shedding light on the intricate molecular processes that enable plants to thrive in diverse and changing environments.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
