New Anti-cancer Drugs: The Past, Present and Future

We are thrilled to present a special issue focusing on the evolution of natural products in cancer therapy: Past, Present, and Future. This compilation embodies the journey of natural products, reflecting their historical significance and future prospects.

The Past segment delves into the pivotal role of natural products in cancer therapy throughout history. It highlights the invaluable contributions of these compounds, showcasing their emergence as crucial elements in medicinal exploration. Despite their promise, past endeavors faced hurdles in translating these discoveries into pharmaceutical successes. However, this section underscores the potential for contemporary advancements to overcome these challenges.

In the Present, we explore the current landscape of natural product research. Today’s global efforts leverage cutting-edge technologies and scientific advancements to unravel the intricacies of these compounds in cancer treatment. However, challenges persist in converting these discoveries into viable drugs. While we celebrate present achievements, we acknowledge the need for innovative solutions to address hurdles in large-scale production and precise mechanistic understandings.

Looking ahead to the Future, we anticipate exciting prospects for natural products in cancer therapy. This section emphasizes the need for novel strategies and advanced technologies to tap into the vast potential of these compounds. Unraveling their mechanisms and adapting them to diverse cancer models holds promise for revolutionary advancements in cancer treatment.

We invite contributions that explore these dimensions of natural products in cancer therapy. Through this special issue, we aim to foster a comprehensive dialogue that propels the field forward.
