Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Research on cancer biomarkers has undergone significant advancement as a result of the availability of high-throughput technologies and the use of biomarkers in clinical practice. Biomarkers in oncology are being connected to prognosis and diagnosis through recent biomarker research. Several studies have contributed to our understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving the development of cancer, identified critical pathways affecting cancer therapy and response, and created novel biomarkers to assess the response of cancer cells to therapy. Biomarker cancer research in the fields of basic science, clinical investigation, and translational treatment is greatly influenced by the rapidly expanding field of biomarker oncology. We welcome both review and original research manuscripts to be submitted to this Special Issue of the open access journal IJMS. It highlights new discoveries, approaches, and technical developments in biomarker cancer research. This Special Issue’s primary goal is to make important works in the field of biomarker oncology publicly available for consolidating the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of patients with cancer.

Topics of this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following key biological processes:

  • Biomarkers;
  • Cell cycle, DNA repair, apoptosis, autophagy, angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis, and signaling pathways;
  • Tumor microenvironment;
  • Cancer epidemiology and prevention related to biomarkers;
  • Cancer biomarkers: screening, diagnosis, treatment response, and prognosis;
  • Translational cancer research;
  • High-throughput technologies: genomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microarray, next generation sequencing, and other omics technologies, all related to biomarkers;
  • Genomic and proteomic databases and applications for biomarkers.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
