Correlation between Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

Dear Colleagues,

Oxidative stress and inflammation are physiological processes that occur in organisms and are linked to life. Thus, the first arises from an imbalance between the generation of oxidizing compounds and the action of antioxidant defense systems. The second may be present in different settings in which tissue damage and the release of inflammatory markers occur. However, a lack of control over its impacts is closely associated with several diseases, often at the heart of the pathogenesis of different conditions, including chronic diseases, neoplasms, autoimmune diseases and infections. Thus, the cellular, biomolecular and immunological investigation of these processes has not only allowed us to understand the mechanisms underlying these diseases, but also suggested new therapies that can positively impact patients, minimizing morbidity and mortality.

This Special Issue aims to present and discuss the advancement of research and innovative therapies involving the process of oxidative stress and inflammation in different environments and pathologies and exploring emerging diseases and pathophysiology that both reactive oxygen species and pro-inflammatory markers can modulate.

We request high-quality original research articles and review articles focused on the most recent research that points to new discoveries about the correlation of oxidative stress and inflammation, as well as innovative mechanisms related to modulating this scenario for future therapeutics.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Autoimmune diseases, inflammatory processes and oxidative stress;
• Purinergic system related to anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential in neoplasms;
• Neurodegenerative diseases and the modulation of neuroinflammatory and oxidative stress in the neuronal environment;
• Immune system and the oxidative and inflammatory process.
